2019 Institute of Philosophy and Political Theory for Young People In 2017 CITAD started Ibrahim Muazzam Institute of Philosophy and critical thinking, teaching philosophical thought, especially in the social sciences and political theory. The aim of the Institute is to reverse the decline in the quality of teaching Philosophy and Political Theory for Young People, which has affected the quality of critical thinking of university students. Ibrahim Muazzam is a towering figure, physically and intellectually. He has more than four decades of experience, teaching political theory, political philosophy, third world theories and other related topics that have continued to influence the critical thinking of many people who have passed through Bayero University, Kano. Many of these courses have either been phased out or that the explosion in student population has made it impossible to maintain the ambiance of the past that allowed for debates and more rigorous treatment of many important topics that impact on the critical thinking faculty of students. The resourcefulness, versatility, depth of knowledge, roundedness and intellectual robustness of Ibrahim Muazzam is reflected in the glowing nostalgia with which many of his former students and associates reflect on what they took from him. It is this that CITAD would like to share with younger generations of students and graduates. The institute is grounded around these aspects of intellectual grooming by getting Ibrahim Muazzam principally, but also many other critical thinkers to facilitate the sessions of institute. The institute has three key engagements. A reading of the classical political thought, theory and philosophy through lectures; engagement with current topics of interests; and debates to shape the intellectual engagement of the participants. The first two editions were so successful, the Institute has given birth to a National conference on Philosophy, organised by the alumni of the Institute, facilitated and supported by CITAD. The third edition of the institute will take place between Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th November, 2019 to enable participants to attend both the Institute and the Philosophy conference on Thursday 14th November, 2019. If you wish to participate in the third edition of the Institute please fill the form and send to us the following information.
