In continuation of its effort to provide, ICT awareness in Nigeria, the Centre for Information Technology and Development, (CITAD) Kanohas conducted an ICT Career lecture at GovernmentSeniorSecondary School, Utai Wudil Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday, 30^th June 2012 at the school premises. The Principal of the School Mallam Muhammad Musa Wudil and eight other teaching staff of the school attended the lecture.

Malam Mukhtar Suleiman and Shehu Usman Salihu delivered the ICT career lecture respectively. Issues concerning the significance of computer, the uses of the internet were extensively discussed. In his lecture, Malam Mukhtar Suleiman explained the historical origin of computer, its component parts and how it can be used to enhance human activities.

On one hand, Shehu Usman talked about the uses of the Internet and the important role it plays in human society. Usman enlighten that our modern society is so complex that individuals irrespective of Human are now relying heavily on computer to conduct their individual and collective responsibilities.

Also Usman explained the uses of the internet as part of the information technology especially in the learning institutions. “The computer is use as e-Library for collecting data from the ocean of knowledge provided by the internet; all aspects of human endeavor have a lot to benefit from the internet”

The entire Eighty Nine (89) students who attended indicated that they benefited greatly from the career talk especially pertaining how significant IT knowledge to human society. And their interest to pursue ICT knowledge was apparent.

The Principal of the school Mallam Muhammad Musa Wudil, recommended CITAD’s effort and described the ICT lecture as very remarkable especially for coming us to this rural area. While evaluating what has been discussed Malam Mukhtar asked questions at the end of the lecture and students like Ali Tafida Abdullahi, Fa’izu Mai Kano and Muhammad Salim Kabiru answered most of the questions.

In addition, the Vice Principal Mallam Usaini Garba expressed his gratitude to CITAD for the lecture on ICT and closed the session with closing prayer at 1:35pm.   The ICT career team members were Malam Abdullahi Abdu Jido, Malam Muktar Suleiman, Shehu Usman Salihu and Alhaji Kabiru (Transport Officer).
