Kano APC chair denies describing supplementary election ‘do-or-die affair’

The Chairman of the ruling APC in Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, said yesterday that he was not the one seen in a video that went viral in which he purportedly described the March 23 supplementary election as a ‘do-or-die affair.’

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Abbas said the video was cloned to tarnish his image.

Abbas said, “Of course it was me in the video, but the voice is not mine. I believe someone voiced over the statements just to tarnish my image,” he said.

“I want to categorically dissociate myself from the video; it is not my voice and I have never said the forthcoming supplementary election will be do or die,” he said.

He said as a Muslim and chairman of the ruling party in the state, he could not make such inciting statements at this critical time.

The chairman advised journalists to always verify any information that came their way before transmitting same to the public.
